About us

WHO WE ARE

We design today and we will build and operate tomorrow a fleet of airships, the LCA60T, intended for cargo transport. Capable of loading and unloading up to 60 tons of cargo (wood, wind turbine blades, containers, mobile hospitals, etc.) in hovering flight, with a reduced environmental footprint, this transport system is unprecedented.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a Materials and Process Engineer to join the Flying Whales Materials and Process Team in Suresnes.

As a Materials and Process Engineer for the LCA60T program, you are responsible for ensuring the development, qualification and certification of the materials of the LCA60T.

You are responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing metallic materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures.

You apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions as well as work in a disruptive environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans.

Mission

YOUR MISSIONS:

As a Materials and Process Engineer for the LCA60T program, you are responsible for ensuring the development, qualification and certification of the materials of the LCA60T.

You are responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing metallic materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures.

You apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions as well as work in a disruptive environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans.

  • Material selection according to Flying Whales LCA60T Program needs,

  • Materials qualifications at Flying Whales and material qualification management of manufacturing partners,

  • Ensure process qualification and process control management for program components,

  • Ensure reliability and characterization of materials allowable and design values used by stress team,

  • Support the design and stress team for metallics parts tests,

  • Oversee corrosion control plans and strategies,

  • Support the certification team for the material aspects.

Profile

 YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCES:

  • Education: BAC+5 engineering degree (or equivalent) in aeronautical or material field

  • Previous experience: Experience working in the aeronautical development context.

 

YOUR COMPETENCIES:

o   Good experience on selection of metallics materials and processes to ensure attainment of design objectives,

o   Good experience on Mechanics of materials and characterization technics,

o   Good experience in development of structural parts of aircraft structures,

o   Experience in aeronautical development cycle at an airplane manufacturer is an important plus,

o   Experience in aeronautical development and qualification tests.

  • Knowledge of:

o   Metallic Materials characterizations (Composite and non-metallics are a plus),

o   Certification requirements applied for the qualification of the aircraft structural parts,

o   Manufacturing process for the aeronautical structural parts,

  • MS Office, statistical analysis tools,

  • A very good English is required.
